The Canberra (LCS 30) is the 15th ship in the Independence-class littoral combat ships and the second ship in the U.S. Navy named in honor of the city of Canberra, Australia.

March 10, 2020 The keel authentication ceremony for the future USS Canberra was held at the Austal USA shipyard in Mobile, Ala.

March 29, 2021 The Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Canberra exited the assembly bay #5 at Austal's facility for the first time and was transported down river, while sitting on a deck barge, to BAE Systems Southeast shipyard's floating dry-dock; Launched on March 30.

June 5, PCU Canberra was christened during a 12 p.m. CST ceremony at Austal USA shipyard in Mobile, Alabama. Senator the Honourable Marise A. Payne, the Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs, is the ship's sponsor.

October 22, LCS 30 moored at Vessel Completion Yard on Austal USA shipyard after a two-day underway for Builder's (Alpha) trials; Underway for acceptance trials on Nov. 10; Moored at Vessel Completion Yard, just after midnight, on Nov. 11.

December 21, U.S. Navy accepted delivery of the PCU Canberra during a short ceremony aboard the ship.

January 18, 2022 The Canberra moved to Cruise Terminal in Port of Mobile for a brief stop before moored at Combined Wharf on Austal USA shipyard; Underway again on May 19; Moored at Vessel Completion Yard on May 20; Departed Mobile for the last time on May 27.

June 1, PCU Canberra (Blue), commanded by Cmdr. Michael G. Tyree, moored at Berth 5, Pier 7 on Naval Station Norfolk for a two-day port call; Moored at Pier 2S on Vasco Nunez de Balboa Naval Base, after transited the Panama Canal southbound, from June 11-15; Moored at Cruise Pier in Port of Manzanillo, Mexico, for a brief stop on June 19.

June 22, PCU Canberra moored at Berth 2, Pier 5 in its homeport of Naval Base San Diego for the first time; Underway again on Aug. 22; Moored at Berth 6, Pier 4 for emergent repairs, after suffered an engineering casualty, on Aug. 25.

September 12, LCS 30 moored at Berth 6, Pier 4 on Naval Base San Diego, around 4:40 p.m., after suffered an engineering casualty shortly after underway at 1600 local time; Underway again from Sept. 15-16 and Sept. 19-23; Moored at Bravo Pier for a brief stop to onload ammo before underway on Oct. 4; Returned home on Oct. 7.

October 14, The Canberra moored at Berth 6, Pier 4 on Naval Base San Diego after a two-day underway in the SOCAL Op. Area; Underway again from Oct. 20-21; Brief underway on Nov. 3; Underway again from Nov. 16-17; Day-long underway for Final Contract Trials (FCT) on Dec. 14.

January 18, 2023 PCU Canberra departed homeport for Combat Systems Ship’s Qualification Trials (CSSQT) at the Point Mugu Test Range; Moored at Bravo Pier for a brief stop to onload ammo on Jan. 19; Returned home on Jan. 21; Underway again on Jan. 24; Brief stop at Bravo Pier before moored at Berth 6, Pier 12 on Jan. 26.

January ?, The Canberra moored pierside at the newly-constructed Austal USA facility, on San Diego waterfront, for a Post Shakedown Availability (PSA).

March 7, Cmdr. James Barber, III assumed command of the PCU Canberra (Gold) during an assumption-of-command ceremony on Naval Base San Diego.

March 29, The Canberra moved "dead-stick" from Austal ASA facility to Berth 5, Pier 13 on Naval Base San Diego; Moored at Bravo Pier for a brief stop to onload ammo before underway for sea trials on April 19; Returned home on April 20; Underway again on May 9; Moored at Berth 1, Pier 5 on May 10.

May 19, Cmdr. William Ashley relieved Cmdr. Michael G. Tyree as CO of the PCU Canberra (Blue) during a change-of-command ceremony on board the ship.

June 1, PCU Canberra moored at Bravo Pier on NAS North Island for a brief stop to onload ammo before underway in the SOCAL Op. Area; Brief stop at Bravo Pier again before moored at Berth 5, Pier 13 on June 5; Underway again on June 7; Anchored at A-148 for an overnight stop on June 7; Returned home on June 8.

June 13, The Canberra departed San Diego en route to Sydney, Australia; Moored at Wharf B22 in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, from June 20-23; Moored at Fueling Wharf in Pago Pago, American Samoa, from July 1-4; Moored at Kings Wharf South in Port of Suva, Fiji, from July 7-11.

July 18, PCU Canberra moored at Cruiser Wharf on Garden Island Naval Base in Sydney, Australia, for a scheduled port visit in preparation for its commissioning ceremony.

July 22, USS Canberra was commissioned during a 10 a.m. AEST ceremony in Sydney, Australia.

August 3, The Canberra moved from Cruiser Wharf to Fleet Base East (FBE) Berth 2 on Garden Island Naval Base; Departed Sydney on Aug. 7; Moored at Fueling Wharf in Pago Pago from Aug. 13-14; Moored at Pier H3 in Pearl Harbor to refuel from Aug. 21-23.

August 29, USS Canberra moored at Berth 5, Pier 5 on Naval Base San Diego after two-and-a-half month underway in the U.S. 3rd and 7th Fleet Areas of Responsibility (AoR); Underway in the SOCAL Op. Area from Oct. 2-4; Moored at NFF for a brief stop to refuel before underway again on Oct. 6; Returned home on Oct. 10; Moored at Bravo Pier for a brief stop to offload ammo on Nov. 8.

February 9, 2024 USS Canberra moored at Berth 5, Pier 5 on Naval Base San Diego after a one-day underway off the coast of southern California; Underway again from March 18-23.
