The Michael Murphy (DDG 112) is the 62nd Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer in the United States Navy. The ship is named for Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005.

May 7, 2011 The Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Michael Murphy was christened during a 10 a.m. EDT ceremony at General Dynamics Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine. Ms. Maureen Murphy served as sponsor of the ship named for her late son. Cmdr. Thomas E. Shultz is the prospective commanding officer; The ship was launched for the first time on May 8.

March 9, 2012 The Michael Murphy successfully completed a combined builder’s and acceptance "Super Trial" after a four-day underway in the Atlantic Ocean.

May 4, U.S. Navy officially accepted delivery of the Pre-Commissioning Unit Michael Murphy from General Dynamics during a ceremony at Bath Iron Works shipyard.

January 8, 2024 DDG 112 moored at Wharf W4, Naval Magazine Lualualei for a brief stop to onload ammo before underway en route to SOCAL Op. Area; Brief stop at Navy Fuel Farm (NFF), Naval Base Point Loma to refuel before moored at Berth 5, Pier 3 in Naval Base San Diego on Jan. 14; Underway for Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT) exercise and Group Sail, as part of the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) CSG, on Jan. 19; Moored at NFF for a brief stop to refuel on Jan. 24, 31 and Feb. 4th; Moored at Pier B16 on Feb. 20.

April 18, Cmdr. Jonathan B. Greenwald relieved Cmdr. John E. Holthaus as the 10th CO of Michael Murphy during a change-of-command ceremony on board the ship.

April 19, USS Michael Murphy departed Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam en route to SOCAL Op. Area; Moored at Wharf 6 in Port Hueneme, Calif., from April 29- May 7; Conducted Surface Ship Radiated Noise Measurement (SSRNM) testing, off the northeast coast of San Clemente Island, just before midnight on May 7.

May 8, The Michael Murphy moored at Berth 1, Pier 7 on Naval Base San Diego; Underway for Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) on May 10; Arrived off the coast of Oahu on June 13; Brief stop at Pier H3 to refuel before moored at Pier B17 on June 14; Moored at Wharf W4 for ammo onload on June 24; Moored at Pier B11 on June 28.

July 1, USS Michael Murphy departed Pearl Harbor for a scheduled deployment.

July 1, The Michael Murphy conducted a replenishment-at-sea with the USNS Pecos (T-AO 197), while underway southwest of Oahu; Moored at Naval Base Guam to refuel on July ?; Transited the Strait of Singapore westbound on July 19; Transited the Strait of Malacca northbound on July 20; Moored at East Container Terminal 2 in Port of Colombo, Sri Lanka, from July 23-26.

August 3, The Michael Murphy conducted a replenishment-at-sea with the USNS Big Horn (T-AO 198), while underway in the Gulf of Oman; Transited the Suez Canal northbound on Sept. 7; Conducted a replenishment-at-sea with the USNS Patuxent (T-AO 201) on Sept. 8; Transited southbound, escorting the USS Georgia (SSGN 729), on Sept. 9.

September 10, USS Michael Murphy moored at Abu Tartour Industrial Port, south of Safaga, Egypt, for a two-day port call in support of exercise Eagle Defender; Participated in a PHOTOEX with the ENS El Ismailia (F986) and two Egyptian Navy missile boats, while underway in the northern Red Sea, on Sept. 12.
