The Nantucket (LCS 27) is the 14th ship in the Freedom-class littoral combat ships and the third ship in the United States Navy to be named after Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. October 9, 2019 The keel authentication ceremony for the future-USS Nantucket was held at the Fincantieri Marinette Marine Corp. shipyard in Marinette, Wisconsin. August 7, 2021 The Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Nantucket was christened and launched during a 10 a.m. CST ceremony at Marinette Marine shipyard. Mrs. Sarah P. Spencer, the wife of 76th U.S. Secretary of the Navy Richard V. Spencer, served as sponsor of the ship. December 6, 2023 PCU Nantucket recently departed Marinette shipyard for the first time to conduct Builder's (Alpha) trials on Lake Michigan. May 3, 2024 PCU Nantucket moored at Marinette shipyard, just after midnight, after a day-long underway for acceptance trials. July 29, U.S. Navy accepted delivery of the PCU Nantucket during a brief ceremony aboard the ship at Marinette Marine shipyard. September 29, PCU Nantucket, commanded by Cmdr. Kari E. Yakubisin, moored at Marinette shipyard after a one-day underway on Lake Michigan; Underway en route to Mayport, Fla., on Oct. 4; Transited the Strait of Mackinac eastbound on Oct. 5; Transited the St. Clair River southbound on Oct. 6; Transited the Detroit River on Sunday afternoon. October 7, LCS 27 moored at Dock 28W in Port of Cleveland, Ohio, for a four-day visit; Transited the Welland Canal northbound on Oct. 12; Anchored in St. Lawrence River, off the coast of Ault Island, Ontario, for a brief stop on Oct. 13. October 14, PCU Nantucket moored at Berth 101 in Port of Quebec, Canada, on Monday evening, for a four-day visit; Moored at HMC Dockyard Jetty NB3 in Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Halifax, Nova Scotia, from Oct. 21-26; Moored at Berth 6, Pier 12 on Naval Station Norfolk from Oct. 29- Nov. 6. November 8, The Nantucket moored at Pier 1 on Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston, Mass., for a 10-day port visit. November 16, USS Nantucket was commissioned during a 10 a.m. EST ceremony at Charlestown Navy Yard. November 20, The Nantucket moored at Berth 6, Pier 12 on Naval Station Norfolk for a three-day port call; Moored at Wharf D2 in its homeport of Naval Station Mayport on Nov. 25; Moved to Wharf D3, outboard the USS Wichita (LCS 13), on Dec. 4; Underway again on Jan. 14. January 21, 2025 USS Nantucket recently moored at Wharf B1 on Naval Station Mayport. March 7, Cmdr. Wiliam S. Green relieved Cmdr. Kari E. Yakubisin as CO of the Nantucket during a change-of-command ceremony aboard the ship. March 11, USS Nantucket moved from Bravo Wharf to Wharf D3, outboard the USS Wichita (LCS 13), on Naval Station Mayport; Moved to Wharf A2 on March 20; Moved back to Wharf D3, outboard the USS Beloit (LCS 29), on March 2?. July 21, USS Nantucket entered the floating dry-dock at BAE Systems Jacksonville Ship Repair facility on Fanning Island for a Post Shakedown Availability (PSA). |
