The George M. Neal (DDG 131) is the 81st Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer and the first ship in the United States Navy named in honor of of Aviation Machinist's Mate 3rd Class George M. Neal (1930-2016), a Korean War veteran and prisoner of war.

December 15, 2023 The keel authentication ceremony for the future USS George M. Neal was held at Ingalls Operations shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss.

April 1, 2026 The Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) George M. Neal was launched from a floating dry-dock and moored at Ingalls West Bank Yard South Wharf.
